We are pleased to organise a dedicated session at this year’s CHNT31 – Conference on Cultural Heritage and New Technologies, which will take place from 11–13 November 2026 at Schönbrunn Palace.
The Conference on Cultural Heritage and New Technologies (CHNT) is an internationally established specialist conference with a history of more than 30 years, bringing together research, practice, and digital methods in the field of cultural heritage. Its focus lies on real-world working environments, where scientific insights, digital innovation, management, and heritage interpretation intersect. As an interdisciplinary forum, CHNT connects researchers, practitioners, and other professionals dedicated to the protection, interpretation, and sustainable transmission of cultural heritage.
Our session (no. 4 in the online programme) is entitled:
From Ruins to Routes: Interpreting Heritage through Narrative Trails (and Communities)
The session focuses on how cultural routes and trails can serve as inclusive, community-driven formats for communicating archaeological and historical knowledge in innovative, accessible, and sustainable ways.
We particularly welcome contributions on:
- narrative approaches to heritage interpretation
- community-based interpretation
- digital and analogue methods for designing heritage trails
- new forms of knowledge communication in public space
We would also appreciate it if you could share this call with interested colleagues.
We look forward to receiving your contributions and to meeting you in Vienna this autumn.
