The Interreg Central Europe project INACO is entering its final phase.
After two years of intensive collaboration, key outputs and project results are now approaching completion. The project’s goal has been to develop systematic risk management approaches to better protect cultural and natural heritage sites from the impacts of climate change.

The focus lies particularly on extreme weather events such as floods, heavy rainfall, droughts, and heatwaves, which are increasingly posing significant challenges for heritage protection.

Within the project, two web-based applications have been developed to support professionals in assessing and analysing climate-related risks:

  • The CNH Care App enables the assessment of the vulnerability of cultural and natural heritage sites to climate-related hazards. By analysing sensitivity, exposure, and resilience, and by calculating an overall score, it helps to identify weaknesses in risk management, prioritise heritage assets, and support informed decision-making.

  • The Risk Mapping Tool visualises climate-related developments for any location across Central Europe. Based on 62 datasets – including temperature, precipitation, heat days, and drought periods – it allows users to analyse long-term trends and extreme events. This provides a solid foundation for risk assessments and planning processes.

We would like to invite you to an online session where we will present both tools, demonstrate their functionalities, and give you the opportunity to test them yourself. We would also highly appreciate your feedback regarding content, usability, and practical applicability.

We are convinced that the INACO tools can provide added value for your organisation and warmly invite you to participate.

Date:
Mid / end of April 2026
(online – to be coordinated with participants)
Duration
approx. 1–2 hours

If you are interested, please send the names and email addresses of participants from your organisation by 12 April 2026 to: zkgs@donau-uni.ac.at

INACO

The project develops transnational strategies, integrated web-based solutions and risk management plans to improve the resilience of Central European regions to the impacts of climate change on cultural and natural heritage in river basins.
The aim is to support local authorities in implementing measures to protect cultural and natural heritage sites exposed to climate change risks such as floods, storms, forest fires and droughts.
