We are delighted that Anna Kaiser and Raffaela Woller are represented with two contributions in the current issue of „Römisches Österreich“ (48/2025). The volume brings together selected papers from the 4. Salzburger Frühlingssymposium held at the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg (PLUS), which focused on the Danube Limes as a transnational cultural and living space.

In the introduction to the volume, Mag. Dr. Rupert Breitwieser, Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Classics at PLUS, describes how closely the symposiumand consequently the publicationis linked to the Interreg DTP project „Living Danube Limes“. The Center for Cultural Property Protection served  as Lead Partner of this Europe-wide project (2020–2022), which involved ten countries across the Danube region. PLUS was an active project partner and integrated the topic of the Danube Limes more deeply into research and teaching.

This engagement inspired the idea of dedicating the Salzburger Frühlingssymposium 2024 to the UNESCO World Heritage Danube Limes and its many cultural-historical facets.
The newly published volume now brings together selected presentations as well as additional thematically related contributions, highlighting the breadth of current research on the Danube Limes.

Contributions from the Center for Cultural Property Protection

In her keynote lecture, Dr. Anna Kaiser, Head of the Center for Cultural Property Protection, addresses cultural property protection in the Danube region, highlighting its relevance within a transnational cultural landscape shaped by a shared historical legacy.

Raffaela Woller, MA, Member of the Academic Staff at the Center for Cultural Property Protection, focuses on the project„Living Danube Limes“, presenting activities aimed at connecting the Danube region through its common Roman past and at the valorisation of Roman heritage along the Danube. „Living Danube Limes“ serves as a precursor and conceptual foundation for the currently ongoing projects „ROMAN LEGACY“ and „Roman Trails“.

We are very pleased to see the Center’s work represented in this renowned scholarly journal and would like to thank the editors for including these contributions.
