General job description

The tenure track position is focused on research, however the successful candidate is also expected to contribute to teaching and project administration. Upon selection, a qualification agreement to be agreed upon with the review committee will outline the specific responsibilities for the next four to maximum six years. It is expected that the successful candidate will develop a unique research profile during this time. After positive evaluation, a successful candidate will be awarded a tenured position as Associate Professor.

Your tasks

  • Taking a lead role in qualitative methods in psychotherapy research
  • Collaborating with quantitative methods groups at the Department for Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy
  • Acquiring research grants
  • Managing scientific projects
  • Publishing in international peer-reviewed journals
  • Presenting research at scientific conferences and to the wider public
  • Teaching and supervising students and mentoring junior researchers
  • Holding examinations

To be considered for the position, the following selection criteria must be met

  • Completed doctoral degree in health or social sciences (such as psychology, psychotherapy science, medicine, public health, sociology, social and cultural anthropology, educational science/pedagogy)
  • Scientific track record, with peer-reviewed publications in the fields of psychosocial health research
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting qualitative research
  • Several years of experience in conducting psychotherapy
  • Teaching experience in higher education institutions
  • Excellent English and German language skills equivalent to C1 proficiency

Desirable scientific expertise should include

  • Demonstrated experience in establishing research and teaching partnerships with both national and international partners
  • Involvement in the scientific community
  • Successful acquisition of third-party funding at the national and/or international level as Principal Investigator
  • Proven experience in scientific project management as Principal Investigator
  • Prior knowledge of and experience in the application of software in the context of qualitative methods software (e.g., ATLAS.ti)

Your perspective

The University for Continuing Education Krems is committed to supporting the successful candidate during the qualification period of four to six years. We will provide the necessary resources and opportunities to meet the requirements of the qualification agreement and obtain a tenured Associate Professorship. As such, the position of Assistant Professor is initially limited to four to six years, depending on the nature of the appointment.

The remuneration for this Assistant Professorship will be EUR 5,124.20 gross per month on a full-time basis (according to the collective agreement of the universities §49 VwGr. A2). Higher salary may be agreed upon, depending on the applicant’s qualifications and experience. The successful candidate may work part-time (minimum 25 hours per week) and will be awarded a permanent position as an Associate Professor after the successful completion of the qualification agreement within the given time frame.

There is the possibility of working remotely for up to 42% of working hours.
