Professorship for Child and Youth Welfare Services (m/f/d)

38.5 hours/week

The advertised professorship is established at the Department for Psychotherapy and Biopsychological Health in the Faculty of Health and Medicine.

The university professorship endowed by the state of Lower Austria is to evaluate the measures of Lower Austrian child and youth welfare within a time frame of five years. The evaluation of the measures of the Lower Austrian child and youth welfare should be established through the development and implementation of research projects. The research results should be included in the scientific discourse on theories and methods in child and youth social work through publication in high-ranking scientific journals, enriching the literature and contributing to the further development of the evaluated measures.

General job description and profile:

The tasks of the university professor include the committed representation of the field of child and youth welfare in research, development and teaching, the assumption of management tasks, as well as the continuous further development of the range of courses. Further decisions should be made empirically based on the results and problem areas identified and targeted countermeasures. The aim is to continuously improve child and youth welfare in Lower Austria.

The following activities are to be implemented within 5 years:

  • Development and participation in international research projects using European and state funding
  • Publication of research results in high-ranking scientific journals
  • Presentation of the results at relevant conferences
  • Development of offers of (further) education measures in the field of child and youth social work
  • Supervision of masters theses in the field of social work
  • Increasing visibility of the topics of child and youth social work through seminars, workshops and guest lectures, in connection with research projects within both science and for the public
  • Intra- and inter-institutional cooperation

The qualifications required for the position are as follows:

  • University degree in medicine, psychology, sociology, pedagogy or social work
  • Habilitation or equivalent qualification in the field of child and youth welfare or in the fields specified above
  • Relevant professional experience and expertise in the field of child and youth welfare, or child and youth psychiatry or child and youth psychotherapy
  • Proven research and publication activity in renowned specialist journals
  • Well placed in the relevant scientific community
  • Very good knowledge of qualitative or quantitative research methods
  • Excellent German (at least C2) and spoken and written English skills (at least C1)
  • Leadership experience and management skills in social, organizational and economic terms
  • Experience in gender and diversity competence

In addition, the following skills and competences would be desirable:

  • High didactic suitability through evaluated lectures
  • Experience with university structures in teaching and research
  • Knowledge of other foreign languages
  • International networking and experience in specialist committees
  • Experience in the development and management of part-time university courses
  • Ability to think strategically and entrepreneurially
  • Knowledge of the Austrian and international university or non-university education and research areas
  • Proof of successful acquisition of third-party funding
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

The minimum gross salary according to the Work and Remuneration Regulations of Danube University Krems (W1/1) amounts to EUR 5,667.14 (on a 38.5 hours/week basis). We are willing to pay a higher salary according to qualifications and professional experience.
