Functions

Manfred Zentner researches youth and youth culture since 1997. Since 2013 he is researcher at the University for Continuing Education Krems at the Department for Migration and Globalisation. Since this year, he has also been working as a lecturer in teacher training at the University College of Teacher Education Lower Austria.

Furthermore, he is member of the Pool of European Youth Researchers (PEYR), and of the youth research branches of the International Sociological Association (ISA) and the European Sociological Association (ESA). Manfred Zentner was member of various EU expert groups concerning youth and youth work (e.g. The Contribution of Youth Work in the context of Migration and Refugee Matters). He is co-author of the Council of Europe International Reviews on Youth Policy in Hungary (2008) and Belgium (2011). 

His main topics of research are youth policy, migration, participation, radicalisation and youth cultures.

About the person

From 1997 to 2000 he was employed at the Austrian Institute for Youth Research, where he was 2000 managing director. From 2000 to 2013 he worked at the Institute for Youth Culture Research in Vienna.
