All employees at the University for Continuing Education Krems are in principle eligible to apply for Erasmus+ funding for stays abroad for teaching purposes (STA), for training purposes (STT) and for a combination of both.

Travel and subsistence costs are covered and these are considered official business trips and therefore subject to the regular internal UWK regulations. Erasmus+ funding is only available for completed teaching and/or training stays. Should you not be able to travel, all associated costs will have to be refunded by the department.

Applications for inclusion support are open to:

  • staff with a disability
  • staff with a chronic illness (physical or mental), if the costs connected to the chronic illness will demonstrably be higher during the stay abroad when compared to the costs in the sending country (Austria)

You can find information on inclusive mobility here.

A stay in programme countries must last a minimum of 2 (Erasmus+ programme countries) or 5 (third countries not associated to the programme) consecutive days and a maximum of 2 months. Stays can not take place in your country of residence.

In order for you to start your mobility journey the best way possible, the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) invites you to go aboard with the Interrail Pass for Erasmus+ for 4 or 6 travel days to use over six months. You can purchase the pass using the green travel funding support provided by the Erasmus+ Program grant scheme. If you have any questions about the pricing, the eligibility of your country, or any other information we invite you to visit the dedicated website or ask our team. You can find information on green mobility here.

Any teaching or training stay can also be carried out as blended mobility (a combination of physical mobility and a virtual component). An attractive option for a short-term stay is participation in a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP).

For Erasmus+ staff mobility for teaching purposes (STA), a valid Erasmus+ Inter-Institutional Agreement (IIA) must be in place with the host institution.Teaching mobilities must include at least 8 hours per week (this also applies for stays under one week). Days involving travel only are not considered towards the calculation of the period of stay.

Erasmus+ staff mobility for training purposes (STT) do not require an Erasmus+ Inter-Institutional Agreement (IIA) and can take place at any university, educational institution, or organization within the Erasmus+ programme countries (EU member states, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, the Republic of North Macedonia, Republic of Turkey, and Republic of Serbia). In individual cases, mobility is funded worldwide. The mobility is supported in the framework of staff periods, job shadowing schemes, study visits, workshops, language courses, etc. Participation in conferences is not eligible for funding.

Application

We kindly ask you to submit the following documents as part of your application to international@donau-uni.ac.at:

  • Invitation letter from the host institution (an email is sufficient)
  • Approved business travel request

Afterwards, the selection procedure is handled by the Service Center for International Relations according to the Erasmus+ objectives and priorities. These are: Inclusion and Diversity, Digital Transformation, Environment and Fight Against Climate Change, Participation in Democratic Life, Common Values and Civic Engagement.

If the selection process is successful and Erasmus+ funding is possible, you will receive the necessary documents and information about the next steps.
