The University for Continuing Education Krems will host the 5th International Data Science Conference (iDSC) on 2-3 May 2023. Invited are researchers and users from the fields of data science and analytics to attend the conference held as a collaboration with the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, FH Salzburg and Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences. It will present the latest findings from science and research as well as innovative implementations from industry.

Data, whether structured or unstructured, numerical, textual or audiovisual, put into context with other data or analyzed and processed by intelligent algorithms, feeds smart concepts and practical solutions such as Industry 4.0, the Internet of Things (IoT), smart cities, smart energy generation and distribution, and environmental management. It is through modern data science approaches that dynamic innovation and market opportunities are enabled and driven to effectively respond to key societal, environmental, or health challenges.

Developments in research and practice

The International Data Science Conference is held in cooperation with the University for Continuing Education Krems, the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, the FH Salzburg and the Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences and will take place at Campus Krems from 2-3 May 2023. Content-wise, the conference covers a range of topics on both the research and the application side. Research will play in a number of topics, as for example including social media analysis using modern language models, e.g. for the detection of hate messages, analysis for vulnerabilities in the area of open-source software libraries or forecasting models of visitor flows in tourism.

Topics from in the practice will include the challenges of anomaly detection in manufacturing processes, geospatial energy planning, and the latest approaches to data ecosystems in supply chains. In addition, four workshops will complement the program, heading from `Data Science in Forestry’ , `Usage Guidelines in Data Spaces’, `Using Data in the Timber Industry’ and the practice-oriented workshop `Making AI Accessible to All’. Two keynotes and a panel discussion are also on the agenda.
A reduced conference fee is offered for alumni of the University for Continuing Education Krems and members of the Data Intelligence Offensive (DIO). Additionally, there is a limited number of free tickets for students enrolled at the University for Continuing Education Krems. Please find more detailed information here.
