You are invited to attend the DDM4SME Conference on Data Economy Law (DELCON 1) at the University for Continuing Education Krems on 26 June 2023. Along with Georg August University Göttingen (Germany), Masaryk University (Czech Republic) and Kazimieras Simonavicius University (Lithuania), the University forms the strategic partnership "DDM4SME" within the framework of Erasmus+. The conference will focus on data, artificial intelligence (AI) and the potential and legal challenges for start-ups and SMEs in the data economy.
To successfully implement data-driven business models, a broad range of competencies is required: an interlocking technical understanding, management know-how and profound legal knowledge. Against this background, the strategic partnership "DDM4SME" (Data-driven Management for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) was initiated in 2020 as part of Erasmus+. The partnership's objective is to develop and implement a new multinational, transdisciplinary LL.M. continuing education study program on data management law in a research-based manner. After completing the program, learners' employability will be improved and the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups will be enhanced. The project is nearing completion and the LL.M. program will begin in October 2023.
Laws planned to frame a dynamic field
The DELCON 1 conference not only marks the closing for the DDM4SME project, but also sets the stage for a new conference series on Data Economy Law alongside the continuing education study program Data Economy Law, LL.M. The conference will provide a platform to present and discuss current issues in the field of data and innovation law. This year's keynote is held by Univ.-Prof. Orit Fischman-Afori, PhD, LL.B. from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem who will "Global Digital Governance through the Backdoor of Business Regulation". AI is rapidly applied in more and more areas and the handling of data opens up new questions, especially with regard to the economic and legal framework.
