tecnet | accent Innovation Award 2023

The University for Continuing Education Krems is presenting the "tecnet | accent Innovation Award" for the fourth time. For this year's award, innovative inventions and research results are sought that hold the potential to further economic development. Whoever is interested is cordially invited to submit a poster describing the project to the award.

Academic continuing education staff of the University for Continuing Education Krems, the IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems and the Karl Landsteiner University of Health Sciences, as well as their students and graduates are invited to participate.

The deadline for submissions is Monday, 2 October 2023.

Projects from both basic and applied research are eligible for submission. We are looking for ideas and solutions that address societal issues such as health, education, mobility or digitization and are able to initiate societal benefits.

Participating in this competition offers the opportunity to present research work to a broader audience and to network with other researchers.

The award highlights how important the impact of research activities is to societal issues. Therefore, entering the poster competition is an excellent opportunity for submitters to communicate their research findings and gain valuable experience.

Interested parties are coached through the steps and challenges to commercialization of research results and are prepared for the presentation of the projects in front of the jury of experts. If required, the coaching workshop is also held in English.

Date: Thursday, 14 September 2023, 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., at the University for Continuing Education Krems, SE 3.5.

The following questions and criteria help to formulate the presentation of your research work and its potential economic and societal effects:

1. What are the results of my research project or invention and what are the benefits? Who could benefit from it?

2. Based on my results, what would a potential product or service look like?

3. What kind of a problem or issue could my product or service solve and what are the potential benefits?

4. What further steps in development are required to enable commercial and societal implementation?

5. If my idea could contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), what would this look like and how could my idea contribute?

Answering these criteria and questions are understood to help prepare a presentation of the research as well as initial thoughts on its potential economic and societal impact.

Deadline for submission is 2 October 2023.

Participants are expected to give a 10-minute presentation of their projects to a panel of experts. A poster, in the format A0, is required from the submitters in order to take part. It is requested to print the poster by yourself and bring it to the presentation. The jury consists of one representative of each of the following institutions: University for Continuing Education Krems, IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems, Karl Landsteiner University of Health Sciences, tecnet equity NÖ Technologiebeteiligungs-Invest GmbH and accent Inkubator GmbH. Both the poster and the presentation will be evaluatare in order to rate the projects.

Submitting and presenting the poster to the jury does not count as publication!

The award ceremony will take place in November 2023 (the date will be announced later).

tecnet equity NÖ Technologiebeteiligungs-Invest GmbH and accent Inkubator GmbH donate the prizes, which are freely avaiable. In case teams submit entries, the prize will be divided among the team members.

Prize money:

1^st prize: 1,500.- Euro
2^nd prize: 1,000,- Euro
3^rd prize:    500,- Euro
