Description
The aim of the present study is to explore the subjective experiences of individuals who have completed or are currently undergoing psychotherapy in German-speaking countries. The focus is on both supportive and challenging aspects of the therapeutic process, including the therapeutic relationship, perceived fit between therapist and patient, and potential burdens arising during therapy. Special attention is given to sociocultural factors (e.g., gender, social and cultural background), and both quantitative and qualitative data on positive and negative therapy experiences will be collected. The online study targets adults with psychotherapy experience and includes standardized questionnaires as well as open-ended questions. The goal is to contribute to the improvement of psychotherapeutic care by gaining nuanced insights into patients’ perspectives—particularly regarding mismatches and potential negative effects. In the long term, the findings aim to support the development of discrimination-sensitive and culturally responsive psychotherapy.
