In December 2025, the Center for Cultural Property Protection participated in the INACO project meeting in Košice, Slovakia. The two-day meeting brought together project partners from across Europe to advance joint work on climate risk management for cultural and natural heritage sites in river basin districts.

The meeting focused on the ongoing developments within the project which address key challenges posed by climate change to heritage sites. Presentations and discussions centred on newly developed risk mapping and assessment tools, including their integration with climate datasets and their applicability in different territorial contexts. Particular attention was given on planning the testing of these tools in diverse environments such as riverbanks, lakeshores, transitional coastal areas, and inland river basins.

As coordinator of the third work package of the INACO, the Center for Cultural Property Protection plays a central role in the elaboration of risk management plans for cultural and natural heritage sites. During the Košice meeting, Anna Kaiser detailed the WP3 timeline, implementation progress, and coordination with other work packages. The exchange highlighted the importance of linking scientific risk assessments with practical governance instruments and operational procedures at local and regional levels.

The second day of the meeting was dedicated to a study visit focusing on socio-economic vulnerability and community-led resilience development. Site visits to historic locations such as the monasteries in Rožňava and Jasov provided valuable insights into the interaction between heritage, landscape, community involvement, and climate-related risks. These on-site discussions underlined the relevance of integrated approaches that combine cultural heritage protection with environmental management and community preparedness.
