The pond landscape of southern Bohemia and the northern Waldviertel, built in the 16th century, embodies an unmistakable characteristic that decisively determines ecological systems (biodiversity, microclimate, sea overfishing), economic structures (self-sufficiency with fish, tourism) and culture (cuisine, traditions). The complexity of this antropocene heritage in its interrelationships and peculiarities has not been dealt with either in science or in the general public. To shape the Anthropocene considering the background of climate, technology, economic and social change, the preservation of this heritage on the watershed is both an opportunity and a challenge. The three-day symposium with an excursion (Gmünd, Nové Hrady, Třeboň), in which well-known international personalities from the fields of science, politics and practice take part, deals with the topic in an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary manner.
