A Path to Success in the Music Business!
“Music and Entrepreneurship” is designed as a specialized study programme within the scope of the Master of Business Administration, MBA study program to provide students with knowledge and skills to pursue a career in the music business sector.

Classes include topics such as the economics of culture, copyright and regulation in the music business, artists management, the impact of technology, and digital marketing and sales in music business.

The courses are taught in English and offer a balanced mix of theory and practice, as well as networking opportunities with international experts and practitioners. The curriculum is low-residency and can be combined with one’s professional career and work path.

It is possible to attend the "Music Organisations" Certificate Program first. The Modules completed can be credited in terms of content and financially for the MBA Program at a later date.

Continuing education tuition fee: EUR 23,900

The program comprises a total of 90 ECTS credits. The part-time variant lasts four semesters, the full-time variant three semesters. Admission is possible at any time.

The Core Curriculum is offered as an online distance learning variant (German only) and as a blended learning variant (German or English). The specialization is exclusively offered in English language as a blended learning variant.

The "MBA" program comprises a total of 90 ECTS credits. The curriculum consists of 12 compulsory modules, amounting to 36 ECTS credits, and elective modules totaling 15 ECTS credits. Additionally, students must choose a specialization worth 24 ECTS credits. The modules for specialization are determined by the curriculum of the Certificate Programs in effect at the time of completion. Finally, students must complete a thesis worth 15 ECTS credits. The selection of core curriculum modules and specialization electives is to be documented in a separate agreement (Learning Agreement), signed by the student and the academic director, and appended to the student's record. This agreement serves as the basis for examinations. It also specifies which modules will be completed through distance learning and which through blended learning mode.

    The Music and Entrepreneurship Certificate Program is an international program taught in English designed to provide students with knowledge and skills to pursue a career in the music business sector. Classes include topics such as the economics of culture, copyright and regulation in the music business, artists management, the impact of technology, and digital marketing and sales.

    The program is suitable for graduates who wish for example to pursue a career as entrepreneurs or artist managers, or established professionals wishing to update their knowledge, gain an up-to-date oversight of the music business sector, as well as network with international colleagues, be they lecturers or students.

    It is possible to first complete the Certificate Program “Music and Entrepreneurship". The completed continuing education program can then be credited towards the “Music Business and Culture” continuing education program in terms of content and financing

Admission requirements

  • Students who have an Austrian or equivalent foreign university degree of any relevant higher education studies of any subject (at least a Bachelor-degree) and
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience and
  • English language skills C1 as well as the positive completion of the selection procedure at Danube Business School.
