However, aviation is an industry exposed to severe risks because of its complexity, its global reach, its effects on the climate and its dependency on technical and technological developments. In order to master these challenges today´s and future aviation leaders and experts need a solid academic and industry-specific education.

The MBA Professional with Specialization “Aviation Management” is one of the very few of its kind in Europe and also aimed at people without previous studies. The focus of the scientific-based Specialization lies on imparting Aviation Management and Business knowledge with a strong practical orientation. It aims to find answers for the essential and most pressing managerial and economic questions confronting the aviation industry – be it Airlines, Airports, Air Traffic Management, Aircraft Manufacturers or international Aviation Organizations. The Program is intended to make an essential contribution to the students’ professional and leadership development and to help them cope with the daily challenges of their careers.

It is possible to attend the "Aviation Management" Certificate Program first. The Modules completed can be credited in terms of content and financially for the MBA Program at a later date.

The program comprises a total of 120 ECTS credits. The part-time variant lasts six semesters, the full-time variant four semesters. Admission is possible at any time.

The Core Curriculum is offered as an online distance learning variant and as a blended learning variant. The specialization is exclusively offered in English language as a blended learning variant.

The four specialization modules can also be booked as a Certificate Program in "Aviation Management".

The "MBA Professional" program comprises a total of 120 ECTS credits:

Career story with Norbert Wiederer, MBA
Norbert Wiederer, MBA combines two worlds. He not only works as First Officer of the A320 fleet at Lufthansa but is also responsible for a demanding communications job within the company as Operations Support and Flight Crew Communication Officer. During his master’s thesis for his MBA degree, he dealt with the topic of firefighting aircraft and opened up another field for development.

Career story with Maseka Kithinji
Maseka Kithinji, MBA, knew early on that she wanted to become a pilot. During her pilot training, she realized that there was more to the aviation industry than being a pilot. That's why she took up MBA studies in Aviation Management in Krems, Austria. Today she is the first female weight shift microlight pilot in Kenya and founder of Girls in Aviation Africa, an NGO that helps girls to gain a foothold in the aviation industry.

A fruitful career path in aviation
Branko Kochovski, MBA is an international manager and expert in Air Traffic Management, supporting the development of ATC (Air Traffic Control) in Africa, currently in Sambia. He earned his Professional MBA Aviation Management in 2002. His son, Antonij Kochovski, MSc works as an Aviation Professional in the field of Safety Management in North Macedonia and has just started the same MBA program to prepare himself for a future leadership role in the Aviation Business.
