  • Non-marine ostracod paleobiology, paleoecology, paleobiogeography, phylogeny
  • Applied paleobiology of non-marine ostracod reproductive and dispersal mechanisms
  • Origin and evolution of non-marine ostracods
  • Theoretical, practical and applied taxonomy
  • Integrated stratigraphy (incl. biostratigraphy, chemostratigraphy, cyclostratigraphy) with focus on Cretaceous non-marine aquatic ecosystems
  • Paleoclimatology and climate change, ocean-land interactions and its impact on life and the hydrological circle with focus on the Cretaceous
