Description

Around the geological region of Dunkelsteinerwald in Lower Austria, twelve communities and Göttweig Abbey have joined to provide a new kind of stage for music and culture. The declared aim of the project is to establish the Dunkelsteinerwald as a venue for musical events or event formats and projects with a musical reference. The most important elements of the entire project are the comprehensive participation of the population, a decided bottom-up structure in the organisation as well as networking and cross-community and regional identity-building activities. At the end of the process, a concept will be developed which will link people, cultural initiatives and associations in the region, enable new events, projects, ..., promote intergenerational cooperation, use unknown or unusual spaces and enrich the cultural programme. The project is also understood as an initiative to intensify cultural exchange; this means to inspire people who feel less attracted by existing cultural events and to win them over as actors and audience.
