Description
To strengthen Lower Austria’s knowledge and competence in the area of biodiversity, ecosystems and ecosystem services, the Biodiversity-Hub, a science-policy-society interface was installed in autumn 2017 at the Danube University Krems within the framework of the Lower Austrian Research Technology and Innovation Programm (FTI). The Biodiversity-Hub functions as the coordination office of the Biodiversity Network Austria – the inter- and transdisciplinary network for biodiversity and ecosystem services in Austria. In addition to its function as coordination office of the network and communication interface between scientific community, decision/policy makers and society, the Biodiversity-Hub pursues the task to set up a biodiversity data management system. On the basis of the infrastructure of the Atlas of Living Australia the Biodiversity Atlas Austria is implemented. The project is running until the end of 2020.
