European Documentation Centre
The European Documentation Centre (EDC) of the Danube University Krems is one of eight EDCs at Austrian universities dealing with issues related to the European integration.
The European Union respectively its publishing house provides each of the EDCs with all important periodical and book materials. Due to the close co-operation between the EDC and the library of the Danube University Krems all publications can be retrieved in a shared database.
The EDC provides users with access to the Official journal of the European Union and to the jurisdiction of the Court of Justice of the European Communities since its interception (1952/1954) as well as official documents of the European Commission and the European Parliament since 1993.
Also available from 1993 onwards are the official documents of the Statistical Office of the European Communities (EUROSTAT), the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP), the European Investment Bank (EIB), the Economic and Social Committee (ESC), the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions, and the Central Library of the Commission.
The EDC is a public service offered by the Danube University and is located in the library. It is advisable to contact the EDC by phone or email in advance.
The European Documentation Centre is generally spoken a non-lending collection, that means you can only lend books during times when the collection is closed like weekends or during Christmas time.
However holdings are to be consulted at anytime you want to and of course there are facilities to copy books or journals on the copy machine. You may search in the common online catalogue data base of the library and EDC.
