The Department for Migration and Globalisation at the University for Continuing Education is inviting highly motivated and committed short-term research fellows between May and September 2022 for preparing a PhD research proposal in the area of migration and integration research with guidance in the application process for PhD funding from the DOC - Programme of the ÖAW (Austrian Academy of Sciences). 

The visiting research fellowship should take place between May and September 2022 but will be individually agreed. During this four-month fellowship, the research fellow will be supported in developing a high-quality research proposal and be guided in the application process for seeking PhD funding from the DOC – Programme of the ÖAW (Austrian Academy of Sciences). The visiting fellow will benefit from an international research environment, a friendly atmosphere, and opportunities for intellectual exchange with other researchers as well as other PhD students. The visiting fellow will be working on the draft proposal, discuss progress in seminars and receive guidance and feedback from migration scholars of different backgrounds and disciplines. The quality of the PhD proposal will be continuously evaluated and only high-quality proposals will be supported for submission to ÖAW.

Selected research fellows will receive reimbursement of travel und cost of stay up to max. 2000 EUR; beyond this amount, fellows need to provide for themselves during the stay at the University for Continuing Education Krems. Applicants for this fellowship must have received a very good master’s degree in a social science discipline within the last two years and have a proven interest in migration-related topics.

If the PhD funding application is successful, candidates are going to receive a fixed term employment contract for three years to pursue a PhD in Migration Studies at the University for Continuing Education Krems starting in autumn 2023.
