On 30 January, a national multiplier event for the NIILS project entitled "Learning spaces in higher education: New approaches for inclusive informal learning environments" was held at University for Continuing Education Krems.
Interested groups and stakeholders, including those who have supported NIILS from the outset, were involved in the project work by workshops and discussion rounds. Stakeholders from the field of educational buildings, students, teaching and administrative staff from several Austrian universities came to University for Continuing Education Krems to develop joint strategies for establishing learning communities.
The programme included a keynote speech on the role of informal learning spaces in higher education and a report on the results of the project to date. Recommendations and guidelines for the promotion of inclusive and supportive informal learning spaces at universities and an operational plan for a "Learning Spaces Community" at University for Continuing Education Kremswere discussed in workshops. In addition, the participants had the opportunity to visit and discuss informal learning spaces in indoor and outdoor areas on the University for Contiuing Education Krems campus.
The contributions of the participants are a great enrichment both for the NIILS project and for the further development of inclusive informal learning spaces in higher education.
