The publication „Industrial and Engineering Heritage in Europe / Das industrielle und technische Erbe in Europa / Le patrimoine industriel et technique en Europe - 50 Winners of the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards“ was published in January 2021 in the university publishing house "Edition Donau-Universität Krems".
It compiles 50 award-winning projects, from 19 European countries, which are a part of Europe’s industrial and engineering heritage: windmills, watermills, granaries, factories, mining sites and quarries, as well as places and vehicles related to transport by water, road, rail and air. The NGO Europa Nostra runs the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards in cooperation with the European Commission and with the support of the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
The winners presented in this publication come from the "European Heritage Awards Archive", which has been based at Danube University Krems since 2012 and also contains all other submissions for the awards.
Between 2002 and 2020, a total of 300 projects throughout Europe have received the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards as ‘outstanding achievements in the conservation, enhancement and adaptation to new uses of cultural heritage’.
This book is published by Danube University Krems in partnership with Europa Nostra’s Industrial and Engineering Heritage Committee and with the financial support of the Federal Ministry for Art, Culture, Public Service and Sport and the Office of the Lower Austrian Provincial Government.
