In September 2022, the Interreg Danube Transnational Project LIVING DANUBE LIMES, led by the Center for Cultural Property Protection, has been awarded the Special Award of the 'Sail of Papenburg' by the Association of European Border Regions (AEBR).

Once a year, the AEBR, the oldest umbrella organisation for cross-border cooperation in Europe, awards the 'Sail of Papenburg' award to outstanding cross-border cooperation projects that promote joint initiatives in the fields of culture, economy, environment and society in an exemplary manner and strengthen cross-border relations.

This year's theme was 'Youth overcoming borders', but the jury recognised the exceptional approach and efforts of the Interreg Danube Transnational Project LIVING DANUBE LIMES, which brings together 46 partner institutions from ten different Danube countries, and decided to honour this cooperation with a special award.

The award ceremony took place in a festive setting during the AEBR Annual Conference on 29th September 2022 in Novi Sad, Serbia, and was hosted by the Euroregion Danube-Kreisch-Marosch-Theiss and the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina.
