Friedrich Altenburg is Historian and communication scientist and joined the Department for Migration and Globalisation in 2011 as researcher and teacher, where his duties include the following:

  • Deputy Head of  Department
  • Coordination of teaching programme of the Department
  • Course Manager Migration- and Integration Management
  • Development of university courses and project management in the framework of international network projects

About the person

Friedrich Altenburg studied history, journalism and interpersonal communication at Salzburg University. After his studies he has been working for 20 years in the field of humanitarian relief and international development for the United Nations, Malteser International and Caritas. In addition, he was certified as communication trainer and online tutor.

The focus of his work at the university is on development and implementation of courses aiming at deepening and developing the knowledge and competences of practitioners and experts in the field of migration and integration.
