Univ.-Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr. Stefan Oppl, MBA is Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at the University for Continuing Education Krems. On February 28, 2025, he was unanimously elected Vice Rector by the University Council, with effect from August 1, 2025.
Oppl was appointed university professor for technology-supported learning at the University for Continuing Education Krems in 2019 and heads the Department for Continuing Education Research and Educational Technologies.
After completing his degree in computer science and further studies in applied knowledge management at Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU) and obtaining his doctorate in computer science at TU Wien, he worked at Radboud University Nijmegen (Netherlands) on an Erwin Schrödinger Fellowship, among other things. In 2017, he qualified as a professor in business informatics at JKU.
Stefan Oppl has been Dean of the Faculty of Education, Art, and Architecture since 2021. In recent years, he has focused on implementing the new opportunities for designing curricula in academic continuing education created by the 2021 amendment to the Universities Act. Stefan Oppl serves on various advisory boards of the Austrian federal government and the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research. In 2024, he took over the management of the Upper Austria Vocational Training Institute in addition to his work at the university.
