ERASMUS Mundus Joint Master "Transition, Innovation and Sustainability Environments"

Beschreibung

The Master of Science in Transition, Innovation and Sustainability Environments (TISE) promotes a holistic view of the challenges, opportunities and risks faced by societal systems during processes of transition. It incorporates a transdisciplinary approach in providing a cross section of system-, social- and cultural sciences, economics and technology as well as applied knowledge from practice in a science–practice collaborative setting, incorporating cross border communication between various subsystems. Based on a system science perspective, different areas of impact are highlighted and investigated, thus promoting an in-depth understanding of transitional processes. This will lead not only to a profound literacy in issues around systems in transition, affecting different levels and segments of social systems, but also to building capabilities in anticipation and initiation of innovation on a societal level in diverse fields, whether economic, cultural, technological or social innovation. As an open and globalized world requires competitive economies, citizens and ideas that can foster adaptivity and elasticity towards change, a deep understanding of the nature of the relationship between competition and sustainability will play a crucial role in the development of our societies. Educating people in this diverse yet interdisciplinary arena of subjects will create more resilient and sustainable systems, towards greater competitiveness in the economy and higher wellbeing in society. It is the explicit goal of this program to educate the literate citizen and provide them with the tools and competences necessary to lead a fulfilled, self-determined life, so that they are capable to critically contribute to the resilience and sustainability of future social systems and their subsystems such as institutions and organizations.
