On October 3, 2025, the academic inauguration ceremony for the rectorate and the 30th anniversary of the University for Continuing Education Krems took place in the Audimax. A high-profile audience attended the ceremony, including National Council President Walter Rosenkranz; Federal Minister for Women, Science, and Research Eva-Maria Holzleitner; and Governor of Lower Austria Johanna Mikl-Leitner.

Since its opening in 1995, the University of Krems has established itself as the leading public university for continuing education in Europe. As the only public university for continuing education in the German-speaking countries, it specializes in academic continuing education for working professionals. With its expertise in teaching and research, it works to overcome societal challenges.

Speeches

Watch the welcome address by Rector Emeritus Faulhammer here. In view of the growing importance of academic continuing education, Faulhammer called for continuing education study programs to be made more accessible in social terms. He advocated reopening access to master's programs in continuing education for qualified persons with professional experience, using the quality-assured validation instruments already provided for in the Universities Act.

In her inaugural speech, Rector Weber emphasized the role of universities in encouraging students to view uncertainty not as a deficit but as an opportunity to shape their future.
