The primary research question for this study focuses on the successfulness of integration of Syrian refugee youth into their host societies in the Euro-Med region, with special focus on Germany as a number one host country in Europe and Jordan as top host country in the Middle East. The study will adopt an inductive methodology that will comprise discrete elements, namely an autoethnography approach which is a form of qualitative research, based on primary qualitative data collection. This will be combined with a case comparative study between Jordan and Germany, documentary and conceptual analysis, fieldwork in settings of refugee settlement, in addition to secondary research on academic articles and text books in relation to the integration of refugees. The material for the analysis will predominantly be based on interviews conducted with refugees, governmental entities, as well as national and international organisations working as liaisons between refugees and governments in Jordan and Germany. Approximately 12 interviews with each of the target groups of this study will be conducted (i.e. 12 interviews with Syrian refugee youth, 12 with representatives of governmental enitities and 12 interviews with representatives of organisations). To ensure a rigourous material, which represents the diverse experience of integration into host socities of this group, I intend to complement the interview material by conducting a survey with 50 Syrian youth refugees in Jordan and 50 Syrian youth refugees in Germany respectively (in addition to secondary materials.
