Zur Person
Gabriel M. Lentner ist seit 2018 Assistenzprofessor für Internationales Recht und Schiedsgerichtsbarkeit am Department für Rechtswissenschaften und Internationale Beziehungen der Donau-Universität Krems und seit 2014 Fellow an der Stanford Law School. Zudem ist er Leiter des Fachbereichs „Internationales Recht und Alternative Streitbeilegung". Seine Schwerpunkte in Lehre und Forschung liegen im Bereich des Internationalen Rechts (insb. Investitionsschutzrecht, Schiedsgerichtsbarkeit und Streitbeilegung, Recht der Internationalen Organisationen, Völkerstrafrecht, Welthandelsrecht), des Unionsrechts (insb. Außenwirtschaftsrecht) sowie Rechtstheorie und Rechtsphilosophie. Lentners Habilitationsprojekt steht unter dem Arbeitstitel „Domestic Law Concepts in International Investment Arbitration“.
Lentner ist Träger des Wissenschaftspreises des Landes Niederösterreich 2020, den er für seine Monografie „The UN Security Council and the International Criminal Court“ erhalten hat. Von September 2019 bis Juni 2020 war er mit Hilfe eines Sonderstipendiums „Exzellenz für Forschungsaufenthalte im Ausland“ des Landes Niederösterreich als Visiting Scholar an der Harvard Law School tätig. 2017 dissertierte er an der Universität Wien in Rechtswissenschaften mit seiner Arbeit „The Legal Nature of UN Security Council Referrals to the International Criminal Court“. Für diese Forschungsarbeit war Lentner unter anderem auch ein Semester am Lauterpacht Centre for International Law an der Universität Cambridge als Visiting Scholar tätig. Er erwarb einschlägige Diplome und Zertifikate der Harvard Law School & European University Institute in Florenz (Law & Logic), der Universität Wien (Concentration in the Law of International Relations, European Studies) und der Central European University in Budapest (Environmental Law, Democracy and Human Rights) mit Auszeichnung.
Prof. Lentner ist (Co-)Autor von über 50 Fachbeiträgen, publiziert ua. in den Fachzeitschriften (peer-reviewed): Leiden Journal of International Law, ICSID Review, British Yearkbook of International Law, International Criminal Law Review, Journal of World Investment & Trade sowie in den Wissenschaftsverlagen Oxford University Press, Edward Elgar, Springer und Duncker & Humblot (siehe Publikationsliste). Vorträge im Rahmen von Fachtagungen und Kongressen hielt er ua. an der Harvard Law School, Cambridge University, Freie-Universität Berlin, King’s College London sowie der Seoul National University (Südkorea).
Neben seiner Lehr- und Forschungstätigkeit war Lentner Teil des Readaktionsteams des Harvard International Law Journal (2019) und ist Teil des Academic Advisory Boards des Cambridge International Law Journal und Reviewer unter anderem für das European Journal of International Law (Florenz), das Leiden Journal of International Law, das Max Planck Yearbook of United Nations Law (Heidelberg), das Journal of International Criminal Justice (Genf), das Journal of Intellectual Property Law & Practice (Oxford, Großbritannien) und des Vindobona Journal of International Commercial Law and Arbitration (Melbourne). Er sammelte zudem Arbeitserfahrung als Associate einer international tätigen Schiedskanzlei.
