In research and teaching, the Center for Applied Music Research deals with the fundamentals as well as current and future challenges of musical life that have arisen as a result of digitalization, technical innovation and processes of social change.

In this sense, the center offers groundbreaking continuing education for numerous professional fields in the music, film and media industries. The study programs are part-time, modular and hybrid in structure and have their finger on the pulse of the times. With flexible curricula and the recruitment of highly qualified experts and scientists, the continuing education programs respond to current developments in the music market.

Closely intertwined with the teaching are research projects that not only focus on current musical life, but also examine the historical dimension of musical culture - preserved in numerous collections and archives.
